In a declaration filed March 28, 2025, attorney Melinda S. Giftos told a Florida judge that she has called the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, United States Secret Service, and sent a Freedom of Information Act request to the U.S. Marshals in an attempt to verify Mark Lanterman’s background.
Giftos reported that Special Agent Matt Cybert confirmed that “Mark Lanterman was a sworn investigator for the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force while he was employed by Hopkins Police Department and … that all members of the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force are sworn in as U.S. Marshals.”
Giftos hired Mark Lanterman’s firm, Computer Forensic Services, in the course of a federal lawsuit.
